St Margaret's is a happy, vibrant community of some 200+ boys and girls, aged 3-11 years, broadly distributed across two distinct departments. The Prep-Prep is made up of children aged between 3 and 7, and the Prep Department looks after our 8-11 year olds.
Within Pre-Prep, two smaller sub-sections exist, determined in the main by the nature of their respective teaching programmes. Children aged between 3 and 5 years are supported by the Early Years Foundation Stage, whilst our 5-7 year olds follow Years 1 and 2 of the Primary National Curriculum.
Classes throughout the school vary in size but generally average at around 14; children of all ages benefit from a high adult:pupil ratio. Class Teachers deliver the core curriculum and children in Pre-Prep benefit from the support of a team of well qualified and experienced Teaching Assistants. Additionally, Subject Specialists provide lessons in Languages, Computing, Music and Sport. Children progress alongside their peers in all areas and a Gifted and Talented Programme supports high achievers. St Margaret’s also benefits from an outstanding Learning Support Department, ensuring that the curriculum is accessible to all.
Expectations and opportunities vary across the school according to age, but our overriding ethos, for children to be the best that they can be, is embedded throughout.
