St Margaret's places great importance on links with parents and enjoys the support of an active Parents’ Association. All parents belong to the Association, with representatives for each year group elected annually onto the Committee at the AGM in October. The representatives act as a voice for all the parents in their year on general matters, and arrange events such as coffee mornings and social evenings, as well as ensuring that all new parents are made welcome.
The Committee, which comprises the Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and up to eight year representatives, meet on a regular basis to organise social events for the school community. These include annual activities such as the Fireworks Supper, Christmas Fayre and the end of year Summer Fun Day, as well as other occasional events such as Film Nights for the children. As a result of the funds raised, the children have benefitted from additional playground equipment, musical instruments, and a vast array of new and exciting reading books, including Kindles, to support the literacy programme. This year the Parents’ Association (along with the Year 6 Leavers) very kindly donated picnic tables for the children to use as part of the outdoor learning programme.
Parents are welcome to join the Committee in organising the activities, or to come along and meet families from the different year groups.
