Fees & Bursaries

In This Section

Fees at St Margaret's are charged termly in advance.

The following payment options are available to parents:

  • Payment in advance by the first day of each term by direct debit - Payment for each term can be paid by direct debit by the first day of every term.
  • Monthly payments by direct debit - The termly fee will be divided by the number of months per term:
    • autumn term - 4 months;
    • spring term - 3 months;
    • summer term - 3 months.

No interest charge or discount will be levied.

Please note that late payments continue to attract interest charged at the prevailing credit card rate.

Kindergarten Fees

In order to benefit from the activities organised in the Kindergarten and to assist with settling in and confidence building, we recommend five sessions per week. Sessions can be booked on a full day basis or half day basis in the morning.

For example, a child staying for 5 morning sessions would attend for 20 hours per week, a child staying for 2 and a half days would attend for 19 hours per week.

Full day and morning sessions include lunchtime.  All children enjoy a mid morning snack and a hot lunch in the Dining Hall.

Free Entitlement Funding

Please note, the fees quoted above do not take into account the free nursery entitlement funding.

We are currently able to offer parents a maximum of 15 hours free entitlement per week for a maximum of 36 weeks per year - the 15 hours must be taken over a minimum of 2 days.  Funding is allocated by the Council from the term following the child's third birthday.

Specialist Service Charge

Children who attend St Margaret’s Kindergarten benefit from specialist tuition in Swimming, Music, French, PE and ICT each week. These lessons generally take place during the morning Kindergarten sessions and there is a ‘Specialist Service’ charge for these activities which is invoiced on a termly basis. The specialist service charge applies to all children attending Kindergarten. As the length of terms vary, the charges will differ slightly each term, however, on average, for a child attending 15 hours per week, the specialist service charge is in the region of £580 per term.

Please note, there are NO ADDITIONAL CHARGES on top of the specialist service charge during the term for sporting activities, snacks and hot lunches.

Parents booking additional hours outside the 15 hours free entitlement will be charged at £6.90 per hour and wrap-around care will be charged as quoted above.  These charges will also be invoiced termly.

Children are entitled to a grant from the term following their 3rd birthday until the term in which they have their 5th birthday.

Sibling Discount

St Margaret ’s offers a sibling discount scheme for all children once they commence their full-time education in the Reception class; discounts will be applied according to the rate of fees paid. Families with more than one child at St Margaret’s will be entitled to a 5% discount for the second eldest child. The third and subsequent children will be entitled to a fee reduction of 15%. Children are expected to complete their education at St Margaret’s at the end of the summer term in Year 6 and in this instance siblings will retain their existing discounts. However, if a child leaves prior to the end of Year 6, the discount will be re-calculated depending on the number of children attending the school. This scheme applies only to St Margaret’s and does not include older daughters at St Mary’s.

School Fees & Notice of Withdrawal

Fees are payable in advance. A term’s notice in writing, or payment of a term’s fees in lieu thereof, is required before a child is removed from the school. Similarly, a term’s notice is required before Music or Speech & Drama Lessons are discontinued. No reduction can be made for temporary absence through illness or any other cause, but an insurance scheme is available which provides rebate of fees in case of illness or absence due to quarantine. Please note, fees are subject to variation.

Families, including staff of either St Margaret’s or St Mary’s, will only be entitled to a single form of additional discount at any one time, and in such cases the greatest fee reduction will apply.

St Margaret's is delighted to be able to offer means-tested Community Bursaries for local children.  Our intention is to extend our education opportunities to the wider community and to those children who show academic promise and demonstrate competency in the high-ability range, but whose families have limited financial means.

As children will be required to successfully complete a range of assessments which measure underlying skills, English and Maths, we believe that the Bursaries should apply to children either entering, or currently in, Prep (Years 3-6) in the year of the award. Each application will be means-tested and individually assessed based on specific criteria.

Additionally, we are also delighted to offer Bursaries of 20% fee reduction for HM Forces Personnel (or Reservists on full-time duties) with children in Year 1 and above.

Community or HM Forces funding may be applied for at any time of the year and the Bursary may commence with immediate effect or from the term following the confirmation of funding.

We ask that families interested in applying for a Community Bursary complete a 'Statement of Financial Circumstances' form to support their application for a Bursary Award. This helps us to determine eligibility and the level of potential funding.  Families wishing to apply for an HM Forces Bursary, will be asked to provide proof of employment.

Depending on family circumstances, children may start at St Margaret's at the beginning of the autumn, spring or summer term. To discuss the Bursary in more detail or to obtain an information pack, please contact Mrs Simone Hughes in Admissions.
